ANNE MORONEY YOUTH SERVICES’ APRIL 2007 EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH

Portia Butler has been chosen as Anne Moroney Youth Services’ April 2007 Employee of the Month. Portia completed her Bachelor of Science from the University of Central Oklahoma. The month of April marks the 9th year that Portia has been with our agency. During that time, Portia has been involved in four different programs at Anne Moroney Youth Services. Portia is quite knowledgeable about the agency’s services.

Currently, Portia is one of the agency’s Community Education Coordinators. She primarily provides the Character Counts! and LifeSkills Training curriculums in Okmulgee County. The Character Counts! curriculum encourages students in Pre-K through 1st grade to learn the six pillars of character. Those pillars are respect, responsibility, trustworthiness, fairness, citizenship and caring. LifeSkills Training is a substance abuse prevention curriculum for students in the 6th, 7th and 8th grade. The LifeSkills Training curriculum encourages students to understand the dangers of alcohol, tobacco and drug use as well as to develop the skills to say “NO.” She is a certified AIDS/HIV instructor. Portia also coordinates events such as the 8th grade Spring Tea and Boys Bash in Okmulgee County.

Congratulations, Portia! If you would like further information about the services Anne Moroney Youth Services’ offer, please contact us at (918)623-9005 or (918)756-7700.
